About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Fishing Technology and Operations Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of sustainable fisheries and aquaculture practices, and to work with a diverse team of experts from around the world.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development of efficient and innovative fishing technologies and operations
  • Contribute to the implementation of projects related to fishing gear technology, selectivity, and environmental impacts of fishing
  • Collaborate with international organizations, regional entities, and national governments to promote sustainable fisheries and aquaculture practices
  • Provide technical advice and support to FAO Member countries on fishing operations and vessel design and technology
  • Participate in the development and implementation of projects and programs related to sustainable fisheries and aquaculture
Requirements
  • University degree in a relevant field, such as fisheries, marine biology, environmental studies, or a related field
  • Relevant experience in fishing operations and vessel design and technology, fishing gear technology, selectivity, and environmental impacts of fishing
  • Working knowledge of English and limited knowledge of one of the other languages of the Organization (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese or Russian)
  • FAO Core Competencies: Results Focus, Teamwork, Communication, Building Effective Relationships, and Knowledge Sharing and Continuous Improvement
