Industrial Quality Assurance Engineer/Technician

Objective of the Role

  • Ensure adherence to Product Quality standards in line with both Client and Internal specifications.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of components, products, trains, and installations.
  • Implement Industrial Quality Standards throughout the manufacturing process to achieve a ZERO External Defect Rate for Clients and enhance IQ Performance with DpU (Defects per Unit), particularly for Special Processes.

Key Responsibilities

PIQ - P rocess I ndustrial Q uality Manager ( Engineer ) / Leader ( Technician) oversees IQ initiatives within the designated workshop: People, Process & Performance.

  • Analyze DpU / External Defect data to facilitate effective Line Quality Management with cross-functional industrial teams.
  • Carry out inspections and verify product compliance (post-rework checks) according to the Quality Control Plan.
  • Document inspection outcomes in the required industrial digital platforms.
  • Execute both destructive and non-destructive testing.
  • Make informed decisions regarding all Hand Overs (GO / NOGO) and maintain NO GO veto authority when necessary.
  • Halt production if required for critical reasons (Safety-related rework).
  • Engage in Criticality Matrix evaluations and contribute to Process FMEA (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis).
  • Lead FAR and participate in FMR / SMR.
  • Develop and regularly update Quality Control Plans during Pre & Serial manufacturing phases.
  • Ensure the availability of the Car History Book and compliance of manufactured products prior to dispatch.
  • Manage Internal NCR: Assist the NCR team in completing characterization until resolution using Problem-Solving methodologies (QRQC).
  • Participate in Client Inspections.
  • Train manufacturing teams on Self-Inspection protocols.
  • Oversee Workstation Dynamic Checklists (Self-Inspection & Workstation Inspection).
  • Conduct Workstation Audits and follow-up actions.
  • Perform or assist in product inspections as necessary (PCx).

Performance Metrics

  • Reduction in External Defects, Defects per Unit & First Pass Yield to meet established targets.
  • Achieve defined objectives for CONQ per unit (Cost Of Non-Quality).
  • Meet APSYS score targets for Industrial Quality requirements.
  • Adherence to inspection method timing.
  • Effectiveness of Self-Inspection processes.
  • Accurate defect characterization (Defect catalog, 5W2H, Acceptance criteria, etc.).
  • Management of rework processes (including validation).

Educational Background

Required:

  • Technical education.
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings/specifications and familiarity with various testing equipment.
  • Experience in utilizing Quality management tools (Problem-solving, Lean Six Sigma, etc.).

Preferred:

  • Experience in the railway sector is advantageous.
  • Associate degree in a technical field is preferred.
  • NTD level 2 certification.

Experience

Required:

  • Knowledge of Quality processes at an Industrial level.
  • Management experience (for PIQ Manager / Leader roles).
  • Proficiency in using digital tools.

Preferred:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an Industrial setting.
  • Experience in project management or similar roles.
  • Audit experience is valued.

Skills & Competencies

  • Attention to detail and effective communication.
  • Technical expertise in railway products.
  • Global perspective and fluency in English.
  • Ability to operate within a matrix organization and withstand pressure (Production & Delivery).
  • Familiarity with Quality standards (ISO9001, IRIS, CMMI, etc.) and Quality tools.
