Customer Engineering Director for Commercial Vehicles

Position Overview
As a Customer Engineering Director, you will represent Garrett in front of customers on key pre-development activities, business wins, flawless launches, value engineering, and field activities. You will build and develop deep customer relationships, supporting Garrett's business wins, and serve as the primary point of contact for customer senior engineering executives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Customer Tech Roadmap and Lead Pre-Development Activities
Develop a customer technology roadmap, cutting across Garrett's portfolio, from core turbochargers to new growth vectors, including fuel cell powertrains, full battery electric vehicle platforms, and connected vehicle product offerings. Ensure alignment with mid to long-term customer team strategic plans and bring the latest powertrain technology trends and voice of customers.
Secure Business Wins and Flawless LaunchesSecure business wins through technical offers, flawless launches through design verification plans and reports, advanced product quality planning, risk management, and release letter execution. Ensure customer engineering NPS action creation and delivery.
Resolve Customer EscalationsLead launch resolution issues and field issue resolutions, escalating to global business enterprises for rapid closure.
Manage Project Teams and Lead EngineersManage functionally lead engineer project teams, assigned by the project to respective customers and resident offices. Coach lead engineers and bring back improvements to internal functions to enable further engineering functional efficiency gains.
Lead Value Engineering and Homologation ActivitiesLead value engineering and homologation launch readiness review activities, anticipate customer needs, and be involved in engineering resource planning activities for launched projects.
Deploy Latest Tools and ProcessesEnsure the latest tools and processes are deployed within project teams, adhering to Garrett's standards.
Drive Innovation and ChangeBring new ideas and drive change in how to work differently and more efficiently, promoting a bottom-up approach.
Lead Hiring and OnboardingLead the hiring process for project teams, in alignment with global business enterprise's onboarding and unified career path process for development engineers and designers.
Support Strategic PlanningSupport the annual operating plan and strategic plan in close collaboration with associated account directors.
Requirements
- Education and Qualifications
An engineering university degree, with a master's or MBA being a plus.
Experience and SkillsMinimum 10 years of relevant experience, with a deep understanding of customer relations and strong technical expertise in main areas impacting successful launches.
Key SkillsDemonstrated skills in product development and component design/manufacturing, managing multi-cultural teams, x-functional teams, and located in different regions, team spirit, communicating and dealing with customers of different segments and cultures, and strong business acumen and customer centricity.
