At Chiesi Group, we are seeking an experienced professional to join our Global Business Development team as Director Global Business Development AIR. This role will be responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and assessing new business opportunities in the AIR space, establishing and nurturing external relations, and leading negotiations with counterparts across the different phases of the business development process.
Main Responsibilities- Continuously monitor and perform systematic landscaping of opportunities in the external innovation space within AIR to identify business opportunities aligned with corporate and AIR Franchise strategy.
- Generate and build an extensive international network in the AIR space and communicate Chiesi's value proposition to potential external partners.
- Build and nurture solid relationships and cooperation with R&D, commercial, and other relevant corporate functions, and effectively lead cross-functional teams.
- Work closely with Due Diligence, Alliance Management, and Integration colleagues to provide project leadership on AIR business development opportunities, ensuring strong coordination and effective communication between Chiesi's team and external partners from initial assessment to deal closure.
- Guarantee a clear information flow, involvement, and alignment of all stakeholders and robustness of the final outcome from a scientific, business, and financial perspective, including recommendations to governance/management.
- Collect inputs from other functions, assemble business cases, and lead financial modeling/valuation for all types of AIR opportunities, generating and updating appropriate deal structures and deal terms that align internal and external interests in coordination with the Senior Director of Global BD AIR.
- Maintain and solidify relationships with partners and/or counterparts throughout discussions and actively participate or lead in the negotiation phase in coordination with the Senior Director of Global BD AIR.
- Pitch opportunities to senior leadership for approval according to internal governance and keep executive leadership regularly informed, providing reports on results, inflection points, and decisions to be made.
- Facilitate the handover to the Alliance Management and Integration Team pre- and post-deal.
- A minimum of 5 years of international experience in BD roles in the Pharma and Biotech industry with a track record of deals closed for assets, both under development and in-market, preferably with a global scope and in the AIR space.
- International exposure, including significant experience abroad (one year or more) and previous experience in a multinational organization.
- Cultivate a global perspective, taking a broad view when approaching issues and using a global lens.
- Puts in place a sound decision-making process, showing a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
- Driven to act with urgency, without compromise to quality.
- Highly skilled at building collaborative relationships across the organization, through effective team- and networking, conflicts management, communication skills, and intercultural sensitivity.
- Resilient and flexible, able to actively learn through experimentation, successes, and failures, and rebound from setbacks and adversity when facing new or difficult situations.
- Enthusiastic, highly motivated, and able to work alongside the team, as well as inspire and lead the team.
- Good understanding of the drug development process and commercial, legal, tax/finance, and IP matters.
- Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking, coupled with the ability to exemplify complex business issues into financial models.
- Proven negotiation skills internally, across all levels of an organization, and externally.
Fluency in English is mandatory, and an additional language will be considered a plus.
