Job Title: Deputy Director of Environmental and HazMat Services

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director to join the Department of Design and Construction, Division of Safety & Site Support. The selected candidate will oversee and manage all deliverables and regulatory compliance, providing technical and regulatory guidance to the Section Chief and Project Managers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the administration of professional services contracts to meet deliverable schedules and agency demands for regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain mandatory training and federal, state, and local licensure for staff and the agency.
  • Prepare monthly and periodic project status reports for the HazMat Unit.
  • Represent the Safety & Site Support Division at intra/inter-agency and regulatory agency meetings, and citywide environmental emergency incidents.
Qualifications:
  • At least six years of full-time satisfactory experience in construction management work on capital projects, each one of which must have had a dollar value of at least $15,000, at least eighteen months of which must have been in a managerial or consultative capacity in an organization responsible for the management of construction.
  • A combination of education and experience, sufficient to equal a total of ten years, including experience in construction inspection, building construction, or education in an accredited college leading to a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Additional Requirements:
  • Possession of a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.
