Role Overview:

The Supplier Product Quality Development (SPQD) function is essential in ensuring the quality of supplier products and processes throughout various projects. This role encompasses both on-cycle project supplier quality activities and global supplier management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Quality Oversight: Lead quality assurance activities for designated commodities across all projects within the specified region.
  • Global Supplier Management: Provide support for all projects worldwide, focusing on suppliers managed in a centralized hub.

Quality Assurance During Development:

  • Oversee quality compliance during the supplier's product/process development phase, ensuring adherence to Alstom's standards.
  • Execute project quality initiatives for critical components from the initial Supplier Part List release to achieving a successful First Article Inspection (FAI) with a positive outcome.
  • Conduct supplier quality risk evaluations at the business award stage.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure that all quality specifications and SPQD plans are fulfilled prior to the 'Go Order' milestone.
  • Accountable for validating the supplier's manufacturing process capabilities, excluding product validation which falls under engineering.
  • Make informed Go/NoGo decisions regarding production readiness and FAI based on engineering inputs.
  • Facilitate customer FAI as needed.
  • Monitor supplier deliverables via the Supplier Quality Portal (SQP).
  • Track supplier action plans and ensure timely achievement of FAI goals.
  • Transition to Supplier Quality Serial Life after successful FAI and initial deliveries.
  • Initiate the supplier escalation process when SPQD deliverables are at risk and lead problem-solving efforts.
  • Assess supplier maturity through analysis of FMEA, control plans, skills matrices, and work instructions.
  • Conduct audits of suppliers not on the priority list when necessary.
  • Assist in resolving critical non-conformities and warranty issues until FAI is achieved and handover is complete.
  • Prepare requirements for incoming inspection of initial deliveries.

Performance Management and Reporting:

  • Regularly report on activities related to DFQ gate preparations, readiness reviews, FAI outcomes, and critical supplier monitoring.

Continuous Improvement Contribution:

  • Facilitate the sharing of operational experiences and best practices through lessons learned.
  • Engage in the company's continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with supplier qualification standards such as ISO, ASME, and IRIS.
  • Ability to interpret supplier contracts and technical documentation.
  • Proficient in using computer applications.
  • Fluency in English is required.
