{"h3": "Job Summary"}The General Cook is a key member of the Villanova University Dining Services team, responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of menu items. This role requires a strong culinary background, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook sauces, soups, entrees, vegetables, and cold foods to meet high-quality standards.
  • Assist chefs and assistant chefs as needed, and may lead cooking shifts.
  • Work with management and colleagues to maintain a safe and clean kitchen environment.
  • Follow recipes, maintain proper food temperatures, and record food production records.
  • Verify portion sizes, quality standards, and core values adherence.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3 years of culinary experience in restaurants or college/university settings.
  • Knowledge of food preparation, food safety, and sanitation procedures.
  • Basic reading and writing skills, with ability to follow written recipes.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Culinary certification and ServSafe certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds independently.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and push/pull up to 30 pounds independently.
