Position Overview

St. John's University, a distinguished institution with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, seeks an Academic Program Coordinator for its Rome campus. This role is pivotal in fostering an enriching academic environment for students and faculty engaged in study abroad programs.

Key Responsibilities

The Academic Program Coordinator will oversee the logistics and administration of short-term academic programs, ensuring that all participants have a seamless experience. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing tailored itineraries for short-term academic programs and coordinating semester-long departmental initiatives.
  • Managing all logistical aspects of winter and summer intersession programs, including class schedules, guest lectures, and excursions.
  • Administering budgets for short-term programs and collaborating with the Director of Rome Programs to develop new academic initiatives.
  • Establishing and nurturing partnerships with local organizations to create viable internship opportunities for students.
  • Supporting student life initiatives by collaborating on events and excursions.
  • Facilitating the Cultural Mentoring Program in conjunction with the Residence Director.
  • Coordinating accommodations and transportation for visiting faculty and addressing their local needs.
  • Assisting in managing the website and social media content related to student life.

Student Affairs Management

The Coordinator will also play a vital role in student affairs, which includes:

  • Ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all students in the program.
  • Serving as the conduct administrator for the Rome campus.
  • Tracking incident reports and managing necessary documentation for compliance with local regulations.
  • Overseeing immigration processes for faculty and students, ensuring all records are maintained appropriately.
  • Coordinating emergency response efforts as part of a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Administrative Duties

In addition to program coordination, the role involves various administrative tasks, such as:

  • Organizing mailing and shipping for administrative purposes.
  • Participating in daily operations to support the effective functioning of the Rome programs.
  • Assisting with other duties as assigned by university leadership.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in U.S. higher education or the study abroad sector.
  • Fluency in both Italian and English.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have:

  • A Master's degree in education, international education, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with educational systems in both Italy and the U.S.
