Postdoctoral Researcher in Control Systems for Haptic Robotics

Project Overview: The RAISE initiative focuses on integrating Robotics and AI to enhance socio-economic empowerment. This project is supported by national funding aimed at fostering innovation ecosystems.

Contract Details: This is a Post-Doctoral position with a contract duration of 18 months.

Location: The role is based in Genoa, within the Center for Human Technologies, specifically in the Electronic Design Laboratory and the Center for Robotics and Intelligent Systems.

Your Role: You will be part of a diverse team of professionals, including engineers from various disciplines, neuroscientists, and robotics specialists, working collaboratively on research projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and prototype electronic systems utilizing commercial components.
  • Engage proactively in a multidisciplinary team alongside mechanical and software engineers.
  • Document the developed electronics to facilitate trials with subjects.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Microelectronics, or related fields.
  • Proven experience in designing motor control systems using commercial components.
  • Strong understanding of multi-axis motor control and general motor control principles.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols for motor control.
  • Proficient in C and Python programming languages.
  • Experience with embedded systems software.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • Basic knowledge of hardware and electronic components.

Preferred Skills:

  • Basic understanding of Ethernet, Ethercat, CAN, and CAN Open.
  • Knowledge of control systems theory.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • High motivation to learn and innovate.
  • Effective time and priority management skills.
  • Able to thrive in a challenging and international setting.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary context.
