Postdoctoral Researcher in Control Systems for Robotics

Project Overview: The RAISE initiative focuses on the integration of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence to foster socio-economic development. This project aims to establish innovation ecosystems and enhance research capabilities.
Contract Details: This is a Post-Doctoral position with a contract duration of 18 months.
Location: The position is based in Genova, within the Center for Human Technologies, specifically in the Electronic Design Laboratory and the Center for Robotics and Intelligent Systems.

Your Role: You will be part of a diverse team comprising biomedical, mechanical, and electrical engineers, neuroscientists, computational scientists, and robotics specialists. The focus of your research will be on developing control algorithms for multi-axis robots used in haptic applications.
Main Responsibilities:
- Design and prototype electronic systems utilizing commercial components.
- Collaborate proactively within a multidisciplinary team of engineers.
- Document the electronic systems developed to facilitate trials.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Microelectronics, or related fields.
- Proven experience in designing motor control systems with commercial components.
- Strong understanding of multi-axis motor control principles.
- Familiarity with communication protocols for motor control.
- Proficient in C and Python programming languages.
- Experience with embedded systems software.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
- Basic knowledge of hardware and electronic components.
Preferred Skills:
- Understanding of Ethernet, Ethercat, CAN, and CAN Open protocols.
- Knowledge of control theory.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- High motivation to learn and innovate.
- Effective time and priority management skills.
- Able to thrive in a challenging, international environment.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary setting.
