Sales Engineer Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the sales process for the entire TIMKEN Product range, ensuring seamless execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Translate technical requirements from drawings to guarantee the correct product is supplied, meeting customer needs and expectations.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers, building trust and credibility through exceptional service and support.
  • Manage customer inquiries via phone and email, providing timely and accurate responses to drive sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Raise customer quotations for their requirements, ensuring accurate pricing and timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver cost-saving solutions, driving business growth and customer loyalty.
  • Utilize your understanding of customer drivers to influence customer decisions, promoting new solutions, products, and prototype applications.
  • Build sales competencies in discovering hidden customer needs, representing customer needs, handling objections, and driving sales growth.
  • Facilitate customer interaction and coordinate with Marketing, Customer Service, Customer Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and other functional areas to ensure seamless execution.
  • Work closely with Customer Engineering on complex system analyses, including bearing selection on non-standard part numbers or types.
  • Obtain application details from customers, including new or atypical designs, to drive sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and execute customer-based sales plans, including sales, won/lost business, pricing plans, and new business attainment, in collaboration with the sales manager.
  • Gather and submit customer and market knowledge to inform sales strategies and drive business growth.
  • Support new business development and current business growth, evaluating competitors' products and selling/market strategies to stay ahead of the competition.
  • Take on project assignments as directed by the sales manager, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Deliver customer-training or internal training presentations, sharing your expertise and knowledge with colleagues and customers.
  • Work closely with key suppliers to gain information required for quoting accurate lead times and material costs for new items.
  • Raise and issue internal KPIs for delivery performance and quotation success, driving business growth and customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
  • Technical background, preferably in general industry.
  • Experience in sales and familiarity with project business.
  • Professional use of professional social media platforms, such as LinkedIn.
  • Commercial mindset and a clear focus on strategic and profitable projects.
  • Fluent English is mandatory (company language).
  • Other languages are an additional asset.
  • Strong time management skills.

Profile:

Ideal candidate: Mechanical engineer with sales of industrial goods experience.
