About the Role

The MEAL Manager will be responsible for leading the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEAL) department at AVSI, ensuring the effective implementation of MEAL systems and processes across all programs and projects. This role requires a strong background in research methods, data analysis, and team management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive MEAL strategy, including monitoring and evaluation frameworks, data collection tools, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Provide technical assistance to MEAL teams in designing and implementing M&E plans, data collection, and analysis.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of data collected and reported, working closely with the Information System team.
  • Lead the development of grant proposals and reports, incorporating accurate and quantitative data.
  • Supervise and mentor MEAL staff, including community liaison and Information System teams.
  • Represent AVSI in MEAL working groups and establish networking with other organizations to share best practices.
Requirements
  • University degree in a relevant field, such as Political Sciences, Public Administration, International Affairs, Economics, or a related field.
  • At least 3-4 years of professional experience in humanitarian and/or development organizations in a similar position.
  • Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written), with a strong knowledge of a second language (Italian or French) highly recommended.
  • Knowledge of Arabic is an asset.
Desirable Skills
  • High-level ability in quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Significant experience in designing and maintaining management information systems and tools.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to effectively use different statistical packages.
  • Knowledge of Humanitarian Essentials, Sphere, CHS, and other international humanitarian guidelines.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage a team, with experience in training/mentoring staff.
  • Solid experience in proposal writing and strong knowledge of PCM.
