This role involves carrying out in-depth analysis and design tasks, from individual components to system-level integration, across various aspects of MerMec Engineering's activities in radio-communication and networking domains.
Responsibilities:- Perform comprehensive system and component-level analyses of communication systems, devices, and functions.
- Analyze and develop functional blocks and algorithms for radio communication using Matlab/Octave prototyping and subsequent C/C++ development.
- Contribute to the design of system-level radio communication systems and networks.
- Carry out thorough testing of communication systems or components.
- Participate in R&D activities related to terrestrial and satellite communications.
Requirements:
- Masters degree in Telecommunication Engineering.
- PhD degree in a telecommunication-related field/discipline is a desirable asset.
- Robust knowledge of established radio communication standards, including DVB-T/T2, DVB-S/S2/S2X/RCS2, GSM, UMTS, LTE, IEEE 802.11x, with a focus on OSI PHY-layer DSP functions and digital formats for radio transmission.
- Understanding of key transmission system components and functions, particularly Digital Signal Processing (DSP) for radiocommunication and widely used modulation and coding schemes.
- Architectural knowledge of active Radio Access Network (RAN) standards, such as GSM, LTE, NR, with a focus on OSI L1 (PHY) and L2 (MAC) functions.
- Familiarity with IP-based communication networks.
- Knowledge of Unix/Linux OS and basic network security principles and practices.
- Excellent proficiency in both spoken and written English language.
- Awareness of Windows operating system and office automation tools.
- Ability to travel for on-site test activities.
- Prior experience with European railway signalling system (ETCS) and Visual Studio Suite, .Net Framework, and other technologies is advantageous.
The estimated annual salary for this position is approximately $85,000-$110,000, depending on location and qualifications.
