About the Role
Festival Foods is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deli Department Manager to lead our deli team and drive business growth. As a Deli Department Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the deli department, managing staff, and ensuring exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Training: Provide guidance and support to deli associates, lead by example, and reinforce Festival Foods' culture and performance expectations.
- Staff Management: Partner with Human Resources to recruit, interview, and manage staffing levels, ensuring effective onboarding and retention strategies.
- Operational Management: Oversee deli labor goals, inventory management, pricing accuracy, and maintain proper signage throughout the deli department.
- Guest Service Excellence: Address customer concerns, resolve issues, and ensure exceptional service by living the boomerang principle.
- Profitability and Compliance: Manage gross profit goals, shrink control, and ensure adherence to all safety, food safety, and company policies.
- Additional Duties: Prepare coaching sessions, performance reviews, and other documentation, ensuring accurate timekeeping and attendance records for deli associates.
- Education and Experience: High School Education or equivalent, with at least 5 years of leadership experience (including 2 years in a managerial role) preferred. Experience in retail, restaurant, or food service is preferred.
- Skills and Knowledge: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and collaborate with a diverse team in a fast-paced environment. Strong understanding of retail food business, perishable department operations, and merchandising. Proficiency in technology and computer use.
- Safety and Compliance: Comprehensive knowledge of safety requirements and company policies. Ability to apply safety training and operate equipment such as hand jacks, slicers, and fryers. Must have or obtain a WI Certified Food Manager License (certification cost covered by Festival Foods).

- Stand in one place for a long period of time, bend, stoop, and kneel regularly

The Deli Department Manager is a full-time salaried position. The typical schedule includes weekends, weekdays, and holidays, with one night shift per week and one late night per month. Shift times are subject to change based on store needs.
