Position Overview

The Infrastructure Maintenance Specialist is accountable for the upkeep, servicing, and repair of roadways and various infrastructure components. This role involves ensuring that all contracted assets, including roads, signage, guardrails, and vegetation, are maintained according to established standards and directives from management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establishes safe Maintenance of Traffic (M.O.T) protocols by setting up and removing traffic control devices such as cones and signage.
  • Works comfortably at heights using bucket trucks, scaffolding, and ladders.
  • Conducts basic maintenance and repairs on bridge structures and associated equipment.
  • Ensures the functionality of roadway drainage systems, including catch basins and pumps, using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Maintains ventilation systems within equipment rooms.
  • Handles basic electrical repairs for systems such as emergency telephones and electronic traffic signs.
  • Operates vehicles to transport crew and equipment to various job sites.
  • Participates in emergency response rotations, which may require overtime and availability during evenings and weekends.
  • Contributes positively to a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Repairs and maintains highway surfaces, including pothole filling and striping.
  • Ensures cleanliness of highways and medians through debris removal.
  • Controls vegetation growth using appropriate equipment.
  • Maintains the integrity of signs, guardrails, and lighting through repair or replacement.
  • Clears roadways of ice and snow using designated equipment.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned.
  • Complies with all relevant legal requirements to avoid potential legal issues.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of underground infrastructure maintenance.
  • Commitment to safe work practices to prevent accidents.
  • Able to identify hazards in various tasks and make necessary adjustments.
  • Required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Basic mathematical skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Ability to follow instructions in various formats.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting safety and operational documents.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to meet operational needs.
  • High attention to detail and accountability for responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with standard methods and tools used in infrastructure maintenance.
  • Skillful in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Professional interaction with the public.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required).
  • One year of experience in infrastructure maintenance (Preferred).
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is essential.
  • CDL, DOT certifications, and other relevant certifications are highly desirable.

Work Conditions/Travel Requirements

Physical Demands

The role requires standing, walking, and using hands for various tasks. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted is necessary. The employee must be capable of using both manual and powered tools and equipment, and must have the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.

Work Environment

Employees may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, and may encounter traffic and hazardous materials. The noise level can vary from moderate to high.
