Position Overview

Hitachi Rail is seeking a dedicated and proactive Materials and Special Processes Engineer who excels in a dynamic work environment. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing a variety of responsibilities, ranging from operational tasks to strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proficiently manage materials and special processes requirements utilizing DOORS;
  • Oversee documentation and activities related to materials and special processes, particularly in torque tightening and riveting;
  • Collaborate with internal and external project teams to ensure successful development of assigned project components;
  • Act as the primary contact for both internal and external resources involved in the materials and special processes design project team, coordinating efforts effectively;
  • Demonstrate knowledge in bonding, painting, and corrosion protection techniques.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in executing the responsibilities outlined above;
  • A Master of Science or a technical degree in Mechanics or Materials is essential;
  • At least one year of experience in engineering roles related to railway vehicle projects, specifically as a materials or special processes engineer;
  • Willingness to undertake short domestic and international travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with DIN25201 and VDI2230 standards;
  • Understanding of Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSI);
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment;
  • Adaptability and flexibility in approach;
  • Focus on achieving results.

Educational Background

A Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials, along with extensive experience in materials and special processes within the railway sector, is required.

Language Proficiency

Proficiency in written and spoken English at a minimum B2 level is required.
