About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join ABB's Tax team as a Country Tax Manager for Italy. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the company's tax compliance and strategy are aligned with our global goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee compliance with local and international tax laws and regulations, monitoring and implementing legislative changes as needed.
  • Support with annual statutory audit for material tax items, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Review and approve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure tax compliance and efficiency.
  • Act as an internal tax advisor for complex tax matters, providing guidance to the Tax Operations team in hubs or Centers of Excellence (CoEs).
  • Identify country tax planning opportunities and pursue available incentives related to new investments, research and development (RD), capital expenditures (Capex), etc.
  • Proactively identify and manage risks, proposing mitigation measures and implementing them with support from Tax Practice teams as needed.
  • Advise on cash repatriation matters, such as dividend distribution, reduction of share capital, or capital increase.
  • Analyze potential tax implications for transactions and business projects, including cross-border projects, reorganization projects, new investments, ERP migration, etc.
  • Provide Income Tax, Withholding Tax (WHT), and Value-Added Tax (VAT) related advice to Business colleagues in Italy and ABB tax colleagues for projects in Italy.
  • Ensure transfer pricing guidance is properly followed, and country transfer pricing documentation is in place, meeting country-specific compliance requirements (e.g., Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR) notifications, etc.).
  • Liaise with Tax Authorities as required, managing tax audits and disputes for taxes in scope of CF-TA accountability, with support from Tax Practice Leads and other relevant stakeholders (Tax Operations, Business, etc.) and external tax advisors when needed.
  • Be involved in Mergers and Acquisitions (MA) projects.
  • Support Legal Entity Management (LEM) initiatives, including simplification, exit, or closure of Business Operating Agreements (BoAs), such as PE or VAT deregistration.
  • Oversee all income tax accounting and reporting activities, ensuring correct tax numbers and disclosures in quarterly and annual reports.
  • Sign-off FIN48/FIN14 assessments.
  • Perform tax reconciliation for the 5 Quarters Rolling Forecast (5QRFC) process.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of tax procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and sign-off assurance letter.
  • Deliver training to key internal stakeholders.
Requirements
  • At least 8 years of experience in tax area (direct and/or indirect tax).
  • Passionate about leading a team to drive results.
  • Captivated by fast-moving environments with complex global business models.
  • Innovative around building consensus across the organization on tax strategies.
  • At ease communicating in English and Italian.
