Sidel is seeking a dedicated Product Support Automation Engineer with a focus on Palletizer and Depalletizer machinery. This role is integral to the Regional Product Support Back Office Team located in Parma. Being part of the RPS ECA (Regional Product Support Europe & Central Asia) offers a unique opportunity to engage closely with Sidel's machinery and clients, addressing both new installations and the existing equipment base, including enhancements, upgrades, and service support. Resolving issues is a fundamental aspect of the RPS mission.

Key Responsibilities

The position primarily involves office work, with occasional site visits. In both scenarios, the engineer will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring operational oversight and technical assistance (focusing on automation) for all Palletizer and Depalletizer products throughout their lifecycle.
  • Providing comprehensive support to colleagues (primarily Field Service Engineers, Installation Support Managers, Project Managers, and Customer Care Managers) through various communication channels including email, ticketing systems, phone calls, and on-site visits.
  • Preparing and distributing relevant documentation related to troubleshooting automation challenges to customers and Field Service Engineers, while liaising with central product support regarding identified issues and non-conformities.
  • Conducting root cause analysis for automation issues in accordance with the resolution process, supporting the subsequent recovery and corrective action plans while collaborating with other departments.

Candidate Profile

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in English, with a good command of Italian or French being advantageous for local integration.
  • Mechanical expertise in Palletizer and Depalletizer systems is a plus.
  • Strong emergency management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams and prioritize problem-solving.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in technical assistance, field operations, or engineering related to packaging machinery (automation focus).
  • Understanding of electrical fundamentals (safety equipment, sensors, motion control, servo drivers, inverters, etc.).
  • Familiarity with PLC platforms (specific knowledge of Siemens S7 SCL-Graph-Awl, B&R, Rockwell Automation is advantageous).
  • Knowledge of HMI systems (specific experience with ZenOn, Citec, and/or InTouch is a plus) and motion control platforms (specific knowledge of Danfoss, Schneider, B&R is a plus).
  • Application of root cause analysis methodologies for effective issue resolution.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly in communicating with diverse groups (technicians, customers, etc.).
