Your Role

Sidel is seeking a dedicated Product Support Automation Engineer to specialize in Palletizer and Depalletizer machinery. This role is integral to the Regional Product Support Back Office Team. Being part of the Regional Product Support Europe & Central Asia team offers a unique opportunity to engage closely with Sidel's innovative products and our valued customers, addressing both new installations and enhancements to existing systems.

Key Responsibilities

The position primarily involves office-based work with occasional onsite responsibilities. The selected candidate will be expected to:

  • Ensure comprehensive operational oversight and technical assistance for all Palletizer and Depalletizer products throughout their lifecycle.
  • Provide effective support to colleagues (including Field Service Engineers, Installation Support Managers, Project Managers, and Customer Care Managers) through various communication channels such as email, ticketing systems, phone calls, and onsite visits.
  • Prepare and disseminate relevant documentation related to troubleshooting automation challenges to both customers and Field Service Engineers, while liaising with central product support regarding identified issues and non-conformities.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for automation issues, following established resolution processes, and collaborate with other departments to implement recovery and corrective action plans.

Candidate Profile

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in English, with a good command of Italian or French being advantageous for local integration.
  • Mechanical expertise in Palletizer and Depalletizer systems is beneficial.
  • Strong emergency management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and prioritize problem-solving tasks.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in technical support, field operations, or engineering within the packaging equipment sector, particularly on the automation side.
  • Fundamental knowledge of electrical systems, including safety equipment, sensors, motion control, servo drivers, and inverters.
  • Familiarity with PLC platforms, with specific knowledge of Siemens S7 SCL-Graph-Awl, B&R, or Rockwell Automation being a plus.
  • Understanding of HMI systems, particularly ZenOn, Citec, and/or InTouch, as well as motion control platforms like Danfoss, Schneider, or B&R.
  • Proficient in applying root cause analysis methodologies for effective issue resolution.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly in communicating with various stakeholders, including technicians and customers.
