We are currently seeking a Plan Review Consultant I to become part of our Consulting & Technical Solutions team. This position is available on a full-time basis.

The Plan Review Consultant will engage in engineering tasks related to plan evaluations. This includes applying loss prevention principles and conducting thorough assessments of technical drawings and specifications for new construction initiatives, particularly focusing on the analysis of associated automatic fire protection systems to ensure compliance with FM's Property Loss Prevention Standards. The consultant must grasp the project's scope beyond the submitted plans to identify additional review opportunities that may not have been initially presented by the client. Training will be provided in reviewing construction, roofing, solar installations, and other equipment plans.

Responsibilities

  • Execute reviews of fire protection and construction submissions in accordance with Engineering Operating Standards and Operating Requirements. Identify potential deficiencies and foreseeable risks related to fire, equipment, and natural hazards.
  • Analyze prior communications (risk and project reports, letters, emails) and, as necessary, communicate effectively with designated service providers, project engineers, clients, and contractors to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project.
  • Offer technical assistance for client inquiries directed to the office as indicated by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in interpreting technical, construction, equipment, and fire protection drawings and specifications within the fire protection sector.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and computer-based calculation tools; familiarity with building information modeling is advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of fire protection systems and/or construction, with experience adhering to VDS/FM Global Standards.
  • Project and design experience is highly recommended.
  • Business fluency in English and Italian; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
