Job Title: Sustainability Lead

About the Role:

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled Sustainability Lead to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing the sustainability program, ensuring consistency in design deliverables across all capital programs, and supporting the City's operating bureaus' capital construction requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the sustainability program, implementing City-wide sustainability objectives through the development of Bureau-specific standards.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders, including engineers, architects, operators, community boards, and urban planners, to ensure effective communication and client service.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to promote sustainability initiatives and best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams to ensure compliance with sustainability standards and regulations.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities for sustainability improvements and develop strategies to implement them.

Requirements:

  • A valid New York State License as a Professional Engineer.
  • Six (6) years of full-time satisfactory experience in chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, or plan examining work, at least two (2) years of which must have been in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity.

Preferred Skills:

  • Demonstrates collaborative team approaches.
  • Experience helping foster a positive team environment.
  • Excellent communication, organization, writing, and public speaking skills.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with LEED and/or Envision accreditation.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with computer proficiency including AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
