Job Summary

As a Field Service Engineer at Instron, you will be responsible for providing on-site support for our materials testing systems, including calibration, maintenance, installation, training, and troubleshooting. You will work closely with customers to ensure prompt and professional service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all requests for onsite service support are dealt with in a timely and professional manner.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for new sales and services.
  • Stay up-to-date with company product life cycles to advise customers on obsolescence.
  • Report on competitive equipment and activities at customer sites.
  • Plan and execute visits efficiently, ensuring smooth communication with customers.
  • Have a basic understanding of our 80 applications.
  • Ensure quality of own work and accurate administration.
  • Contribute to improving customer satisfaction, reducing costs, and improving quality using ITW Tool Box and other processes.

Requirements

  • Ability to quickly pick up technical training, processes, and systems.
  • Basic awareness of costs and own impact on margin.
  • Flexible, resilient, and open-minded.
  • Computer literate.
  • Well-organized with good time management skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, including fluency in English and the local language.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Team player.
  • Customer-oriented.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant technical qualifications in mechatronics, mechanics, electrical, electronic engineering, or equivalent.
  • Full, clean local driving license without restrictions.

Additional Information

  • Typically a 9-to-5 role, but must be flexible to customer requirements.
  • Ability to travel and stay away from home at short notice.
  • A variety of environments with limited physical discomfort.
  • The job holder will be required to be on their feet for a large part of the day and some manual handling is required.
