About the Role

FORTNA is a leading provider of innovative solutions for omnichannel and parcel distribution operations. As a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer, you will play a key role in transforming our customers' operations by designing and delivering optimized solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a deep understanding of mechanical engineering requirements for each project
  • Study and become familiar with elementary system drawings, conveyor manifests, and equipment knowledge
  • Estimate mechanical hours and support with change orders
  • Provide technical interface with customer project representatives
  • Define project scope and conduct 3D model reviews, system level reviews, and equipment installation issue resolution
  • Execute mechanical change orders and manage customer specifications and standards
  • Mentor and navigate issues with less experienced Project Engineers
  • Prioritize, organize, and manage time effectively
  • Develop, maintain, and assist with creating a mechanical engineering schedule
  • Thoroughly grasp project contract documents and execute the project within budget and hours
  • Provide extensive technical support for Project Engineers, vendors, field installation personnel, and engineering sub-contractors
  • Host weekly meetings with project team members and customers
  • Delegate and monitor tasks given to project engineers and other engineering team members
  • Assist Procurement with ordering long lead items
  • Maintain project-specific requirements while applying general knowledge of conveying systems and customer specifications
  • Communicate project-specific information with other departments
  • Release drawings for installation and fabrication
  • Create material purchase requests
  • Relate information regarding changes to scope of work for the project
  • Communicate status updates to engineering management
Requirements
  • 6-10 years of material handling equipment experience, preferably in the conveyor systems industry
  • Experience with executing and supporting multiple mid to large projects
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering and design
  • Travel requirements: some international travel required +/- 15%
