Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Health Advisor to join our team at the Department of Health and Human Services. As a Public Health Advisor, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing public health programs and initiatives that align with our agency's goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and formulate new programs and initiatives that align with public health activities
  • Manage and analyze in-country needs and opportunities against CDC program strategic objectives
  • Formulate program budgets and present resource requirements to support long-term goals and objectives
  • Oversee the planning, directing, and execution of program segments, including development, assignment, and refinement of goals and objectives
  • Provide direction and advice to supervisors and staff on policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Consult with public health advisors, health officials, and senior program officials to integrate and coordinate activities and resources
  • Prepare correspondence on research, medical, program, and management issues
Requirements
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service
  • May be subject to a Background/Investigation
  • May be required to obtain a Secret or Top-Secret Clearance
  • Direct deposit is required
  • One-year probationary period may be required
  • Time in grade (TIG) must be met within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level, which must include experience developing and formulating new programs and initiatives that align with public health activities.

Additional Information

This position may be subject to the OGE Financial Disclosure requirements of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978. You may be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE Form 450) to determine if a conflict or an appearance of a conflict exists between your financial interest and your prospective position with the agency.

This position may require a Drug Test and be subject to Random Drug Testing. The position may require the submission of a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and be subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing upon hiring.

Immunizations are required and will be administered by the CDC before relocating overseas. Selectee will need to obtain security and medical clearances before being cleared to report to the overseas duty station.
