About the Role

Hitachi Rail is seeking an experienced and skilled Head of Onboard Systems to join our team. As a key member of our Engineering Department, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating onboard systems, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our trains.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate onboard systems, including passenger doors, HVAC, brakes, and fire detection and extinguishing systems.
  • Support and coordinate during bid and project development, including technical design of onboard systems.
  • Define systems conceptual solutions and architecture, based on requirements and vehicle configuration.
  • Prepare system requirements specification, analyze suppliers' technical proposals, and verify technical descriptions of systems.
  • Support during system type tests and onboard integration tests.
  • Design review with clients, suppliers, and notified bodies.
Requirements
  • Degree in Electric or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical background.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the railway industry as a Systems Engineer and/or Designer focused on doors systems.
  • Good knowledge of mechanics, electronics, and principal internal components of systems.
  • Related knowledge of RAMS disciplines and main applicable standards.
  • Knowledge of office automation software and tools, as well as electrical/mechanical design software and IBM DOORS requirements management tool.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization and contribute to constructive and practical ideas.
  • Readiness to work in a collaborative, fast-paced, and multitasking international environment.
