About the Role

Hitachi Rail S.p.A. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Vehicle Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Engineering Department, you will be responsible for supporting and coordinating the technical design of systems, preparing system requirements specifications, and analyzing suppliers' technical proposals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and coordinate during the bid and project development of the technical design of systems
  • Prepare system requirements specification of a mechanical system
  • Analyze suppliers' technical proposals
  • Check the technical description of the system
  • Verify drawings/documents (electrical, mechanical, etc.) for installation/integration on board
  • Check FEM analysis reports
  • Prepare/verify performance test specifications
  • Support during system type tests
  • Support during on-board integration tests
  • Design review with clients and suppliers

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience
  • Good knowledge of pneumatic schemes, hydraulic schemes, electrical scheme comprehension, bolted, and riveted connections
  • Good knowledge of bolted and riveted connections
  • Basic knowledge of electrics and mechanics required
  • Knowledge of main office automation software/tools (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Knowledge of mechanical design software (Autocad, Creo, Catia, etc.) and IBM DOORS requirements management tool
  • Knowledge of engineering processes and railway operations
  • Readiness to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, multitasking international environment
  • Ability to work autonomously in teams and for projects required
  • Availability for short-term national and international business trips

Education and Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical background (also technical high school graduation can be analyzed)

Languages

Good knowledge of written and spoken English is mandatory. English language knowledge on at least B2 level.
