Senior Business Development Director

As a seasoned Business Development Director at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will be responsible for securing and retaining business for PPD through professional, consultative, proactive sales activities focused on decision-makers and decision influencers at existing and new clinical sponsors.
About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a world-leading organization and contribute to the success of our business development team. You will be responsible for positioning PPD as a primary or preferred provider for all clinical development work to be outsourced, qualifying deals and developing proposals including defining the solutions and recommending pricing structures to meet strategic company goals.
Your Key Responsibilities:
• Lead RFP strategy calls and develop client proposals
• Prepare client presentations and negotiate and close contracts
• Sign new business authorizations at or above assigned authorization goal
• Make cold calls and client visits; maintain sales database; maintain cold call and client visit activity reports
• Act as a liaison between sponsor and company on all business development activities and requirements
• Coordinate with the relevant clinical development area(s) to ensure a successful implementation
• Gather data on marketing trends and driven products / services and pricing
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for a highly experienced sales professional with a proven track record of developing mid- and high-level business contacts. You will have excellent social skills and be able to manage and fully integrate with Operations, Finance, and Marketing.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience and skills
• Extensive, senior-level sales experience for the Clinical/CRO/Laboratory Services markets
• Proven track record of developing mid- and high-level business contacts
• Demonstrated experience in identifying and developing sales leads, making professional presentations, managing the sales process through close, and handling all aspects of contract negotiations
• Excellent social skills in order to manage and fully integrate with Operations, Finance, and Marketing
• Advanced level of business English; additional European languages an advantage
