Our company specializes in providing extensive global commercial and industrial property insurance, engineering-driven underwriting, and risk management solutions, alongside property loss prevention research and expert claims handling.

We are currently seeking a dedicated individual to join our Operations Engineering team as a Consultant Engineer, based in our Milan office, reporting directly to the Group Manager Field Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with clients to understand their operations and assist them in mitigating fire and equipment-related risks.
  • Conduct thorough on-site evaluations to identify potential hazards at client locations, ensuring all foreseeable physical and human element exposures are recognized.
  • Accurately assess risks at client sites to ensure the Account Team appropriately addresses these exposures and their potential impact on business operations.
  • Implement necessary measures to ensure the operational effectiveness of protective systems at client locations, maximizing opportunities for loss prevention and maintaining protection systems at all times.
  • Engage with clients to gain their understanding and agreement on identified hazards and exposures, discussing their potential business implications.
  • Drive practical and effective on-site risk enhancements, including human element and maintenance programs, as well as cost-effective physical improvements. Develop a strategy for addressing high-capital improvement recommendations in alignment with Account Engineering.
  • Demonstrate the added value of FM Global's engineering capabilities and collaborate with Account Engineering to educate clients on effective loss prevention strategies.
  • Identify and address upcoming changes to mitigate associated risks, providing timely and high-quality plan review services for medium complexity changes to ensure proper loss prevention considerations are integrated at the design phase.

Qualifications

  • A 5-year degree in chemical or electrical engineering, with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in production, maintenance, or process hazards consulting within high-challenge industries (e.g., chemical, power generation, or pulp & paper).
  • A self-motivated, problem-solving mindset with a genuine commitment to driving risk improvements.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a logical analytical approach.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including listening, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
  • Proficiency in both Italian and English, with written and oral capabilities. Knowledge of French and Spanish is a plus.
  • The role necessitates extensive travel within an assigned geographical area and throughout the operational territory.
