Lead Bid Manager

Hitachi Rail is seeking a highly skilled Lead Bid Manager to join our team in Firenze, Italy.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing complex bids for signalling and operations projects in the railway and urban transportation market. This includes leading the tender process, coordinating all involved functions, and ensuring timely submission of winning technical-economic proposals within budget and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise overall tender preparation (offer or proposal) and ensure compliance with assigned timelines and budgets.
- Adequately apply bid & project management processes, methodologies, techniques, and tools to achieve objectives.
- Manage complex bids involving multiple disciplines, national, and international contexts, collaborating with other Group Units.
- Plan and coordinate bid activities and resources efficiently, managing stakeholders and customers.
- Analyze opportunities, define positioning strategies, and develop bid plans in collaboration with the Sales Manager.
- Capture and consolidate contributions for economical valorisation of the bid (cost estimate, sales price, and related economic-financial results).
- Present offers to Management for approval and support Sales Managers in commercial meetings and negotiations.
- Ensure adequate handover to project teams upon order acquisition and manage communications between internal stakeholders and customers.
- Maintain compliance with company values, Code of Ethics, Quality Manual, and HSE regulations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Business.
- Proven experience in Railway Transport sector and Project or Bid management.
- Technical background with commercial, contractual, and financial exposure.
- Strong leadership skills, ability to work under pressure, and motivate multi-unit ad-hoc bid teams.
- Demonstrated international exposure and proficiency in English.
- Excellent Italian language skills (spoken and written).
Estimated Salary: €60,000 - €80,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
