YOUR TEAM

The research team is led by Dr. Lucia Beccai, who has significant expertise in bioinspired tactile sensing systems, bionics, biorobotics, and soft robotics. Our research focuses on developing innovative technologies for embodied sensing processes in soft robots, emphasizing touch to enable intelligent interaction with the environment, ultimately assisting humans in real-world applications.

As part of our multicultural and interdisciplinary group, you will collaborate with engineers from various fields (mechanical, electrical, biomedical, etc.), material scientists, and computer experts, each contributing their unique skills to achieve common research goals using state-of-the-art facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop hardware platforms for testing sensors, actuators, and robots created in the lab.
  • Support the fabrication and testing of soft sensor and actuator systems.
  • Assist with lab logistics, safety protocols, and procurement of materials and equipment.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • MSc in Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or Robotics.
  • Two years of professional experience in an experimental laboratory setting.
  • Strong hands-on experience in: design, assembly, and testing of electromechanical systems; software programming (e.g., C/C++, Labview, Matlab); electronic instrumentation (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, data loggers); and universal electromechanical testing machines.
  • Proficient in electronic and mechanical CAD software.
  • Able to work effectively in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
  • Skilled in organizing, storing, and reporting research data efficiently.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

  • A PhD in electronic engineering, microtechnology, mechatronics, or robotics is highly desirable.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Effective time and priority management.
