Job Description

The primary responsibility of the Neuromuscular Disease Care Manager is to drive patient identification and market development for SMA by creating territory, account, and customer strategies to achieve area sales, market share, and profit targets for their territory. This involves effectively maintaining relationships with physicians and treatment clinics to educate on Nusinersen and remove barriers to facilitate healthcare provider decisions.

The Neuromuscular Disease Care Manager is accountable for the success of Nusinersen in the assigned accounts by working in partnership with marketing, logistics support, internal/field market access, and medical colleagues to create value for patients and other relevant stakeholders within the accounts. This ensures long-term growth in alignment with Biogen's code of conduct and the strictest ethical, compliance, and legal standards.

The key responsibilities of the Neuromuscular Disease Care Manager include:

  • Identifying the patient/doctor landscape and the drivers of rare diseases/SMA treatment decisions.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements to ensure the right guardrails are in place.
  • Developing and executing an effective business plan for maximizing territory sales, ensuring stakeholder needs are met.
  • Oversight on logistics to ensure availability of Nusinersen, cross-functionally with field market access and field medical.
  • Preparing individual account plans and coordinating cross-functional work on strategic account/regional plans to approach customers, achieve goals, and maintain relationships to maximize Nusinersen use.
  • Working across a large cross-functional team to develop SMA centers of excellence, ensuring patients have access to Nusinersen and troubleshooting any challenges.
  • Collecting and sharing information to identify, segment, and profile national key accounts, such as hospitals, purchase groups, guideline providers, etc.
  • Acquiring intimate knowledge of the accounts' stakeholders' priorities and decision-making processes, including patient identification/selection, choice of therapeutic options, budget allocation, and care coordination, business needs, drivers, and barriers for Nusinersen utilization.
  • Dedication to building, strengthening, and ensuring long-term customer relationships with key stakeholders responsible for SMA care delivery and funding of treatment, ensuring a favorable environment for Nusinersen via regular dialog with key stakeholders.
  • Effective allocation of resources assigned to support territory activities.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of sales experience in the hospital/academic medical center/biotech industry.
  • High degree of learning agility to learn/understand Nusinersen administration and neuromuscular diseases, with ability to deal with ambiguity and handle risk and uncertainty.
  • Previous experience in a sales team that was part of a multifunctional team to address patient/caregiver needs.
  • Preferred experience in rare diseases.
  • Availability to travel for a minimum of 60% of the working time.
  • Understanding and confidence in speaking English language in addition to fluency in the local market language.
  • Bachelor/master's degree in science (according to local legislation).
