Job Overview

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Produce Department Manager by executing assigned tasks and effectively oversee the Produce Department during their absence.
  • Promote the core values of Festival Foods, ensuring exceptional customer service and performance standards among all Produce team members.
  • Facilitate training for new team members and provide ongoing training as needed.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for Produce associates.
  • Document any breaches of company policies by Produce associates and implement appropriate corrective measures, including potential termination.
  • Serve as a resource for all inquiries from Produce department associates.
  • Ensure compliance with all departmental standards within the Produce section.
  • Monitor the sales floor and back stock conditions, taking necessary actions to address areas needing improvement.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels and verify accurate pricing on all products received and sold.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Store Director, Produce Manager, other Department Managers, and Produce associates to uphold standards and exceed customer expectations.
  • Provide excellent customer service to guests.
  • Assist guests in locating items.
  • Process orders and special requests.
  • Manage incoming calls with proper etiquette.
  • Address customer concerns and resolve issues when service or product quality does not meet expectations.
  • Support all department associates in their daily tasks while leading by example.
  • Contribute to the overall cleanliness of the department by organizing and tidying work areas, shelving, and sales floors as necessary.
  • Maintain required food safety logs.
  • Ensure accurate timekeeping for the department and communicate any discrepancies to HR.
  • Meet all quality standards, including achieving quantity expectations by specified times.
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed.
  • Adhere to regular attendance as per the work schedule, providing adequate notice for any absences.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of leadership roles and the ability to motivate a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in technology and computer usage.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the retail food industry, particularly in perishable department operations, merchandising skills, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to interact tactfully and effectively with customers and staff.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and company safety policies.
  • Ability to apply safety training to identify and respond to potential hazards in the store environment.
  • Must possess a WI Certified Food Manager License (Festival Foods will cover certification costs if not already obtained).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position is full-time and requires availability during mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
