Job Overview

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists the Produce Department Manager in daily operations and effectively oversees the Produce Department when the Manager is unavailable.
  • Promotes the core values of Festival Foods, emphasizing customer service and performance standards to all team members in the Produce section.
  • Trains and mentors new team members, providing ongoing training as needed.
  • Conducts performance evaluations for Produce associates, ensuring feedback is constructive and supportive.
  • Records any breaches of company policies by team members and implements corrective measures as necessary, including disciplinary actions.
  • Serves as a resource for all associates in the Produce department, addressing inquiries and providing direction.
  • Ensures compliance with departmental standards and operational excellence within the Produce area.
  • Monitors the sales floor and back stock conditions, taking proactive steps to address any issues.
  • Maintains optimal inventory levels and verifies accurate pricing for all products.
  • Collaborates effectively with the Store Director, Produce Manager, and other department leaders to uphold standards and exceed customer expectations.
  • Provides exceptional customer service, assisting guests in locating products and addressing any special requests.
  • Handles incoming calls with professionalism and assists callers appropriately.
  • Resolves customer complaints and ensures satisfaction with service and products.
  • Supports all associates in their daily tasks while demonstrating leadership through example.
  • Contributes to the cleanliness and organization of the department by maintaining tidy workspaces and sales areas.
  • Responsible for maintaining food safety documentation.
  • Ensures accurate timekeeping for the department and communicates any discrepancies to HR.
  • Guarantees that quality standards are consistently met, including achieving quantity goals by designated times.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Adheres to a regular attendance schedule in line with work expectations, providing notice for any absences.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The qualifications outlined below represent the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required.   • High School diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to inspire a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in technology and computer usage.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the retail food industry, particularly in perishable goods management, merchandising, and decision-making.
  • Ability to interact tactfully and effectively with customers and staff.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and company safety policies.
  • Capability to apply safety training to identify and respond to potential hazards in the workplace. Familiarity with equipment and procedures such as hand jacks, balers, forklifts, and proper lifting techniques is essential.
  • Possession of a WI Certified Food Manager License (Festival Foods will assist with certification if not already obtained).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position is a full-time hourly role, requiring availability during mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
