POSITION SUMMARY

The Culinary Assistant is responsible for preparing ingredients for cooking, which includes tasks such as portioning, chopping, and storing food items. Responsibilities also involve washing and peeling fresh produce, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients accurately. The role requires preparing and cooking meals according to established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines. Additionally, the Culinary Assistant will prepare cold dishes and operate various kitchen equipment, including ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.

It is essential to test foods to ensure they are cooked properly and to monitor the quality of food during preparation. The Culinary Assistant will set up and break down their workstation, serve food in appropriate portions, and maintain cleanliness by washing and disinfecting kitchen areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment. Checking the temperature of appliances and food is also a critical part of the role.

Adherence to all company policies and safety procedures is mandatory. The Culinary Assistant must report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to management, and complete necessary safety training and certifications. Maintaining a clean and professional appearance is important, as is protecting company assets and ensuring confidentiality of proprietary information.

Effective communication with colleagues using clear and professional language is vital. The Culinary Assistant should develop and maintain positive working relationships, support team objectives, and respond appropriately to the concerns of coworkers. Ensuring compliance with quality expectations and standards is crucial.

This position requires the ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods and to perform physical tasks such as reaching overhead, bending, twisting, and lifting objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance. Other reasonable job duties may be assigned by supervisors.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Related Work Experience: A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.

Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience required.

License or Certification: None required.
