Position Overview

At HITACHI ENERGY ITALY S.P.A., our R&D engineers and scientists are at the forefront of innovation, developing transformative technologies that redefine industry standards and enhance operational efficiency. In this internship role, you will play a vital part in supporting our Research & Development initiatives within the Transformer Business Unit.

We are looking for an engineering intern to join our R&D team, focusing primarily on research and development tasks, particularly in the area of dimensional assessments of power transformer conductors. The data gathered will be subjected to analysis through basic linear regression and/or machine learning methodologies.

Additionally, you will engage in various R&D activities aimed at data collection from electrical designs and power transformer testing documentation, followed by their evaluation using MI/AI techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct mechanical dimensional assessments of conductors, systematically recording the measured data in tables/databases.
  • Analyze the collected data utilizing basic linear regression and/or machine learning techniques.
  • Oversee the integration of new measurements into the existing database that houses prior results.
  • Derive analytical insights from the collected data and analyses.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing units for the collection of conductor samples.
  • Formulate and implement testing protocols for the electrical design system.
  • Create and refine technical documentation, project reports, and technical articles based on measurement outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the success of projects.

Candidate Profile:

  • A Master's (or Bachelor's) degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or a related engineering or statistics field.
  • University students seeking an internship for their bachelor thesis in relevant fields.
  • Familiarity with the manufacturing processes of electrical machines and/or numerical analysis is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Python programming is considered beneficial.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
