About the Role

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Catering and Conference Services Manager to join our team. As a key member of our events team, you will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of catering events, ensuring seamless execution and exceeding guest expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate catering events, including food and beverage requirements, timing, audio visual needs, and special guest requests
  • Work closely with the sales team to ensure accurate information sharing and turnover
  • Collaborate with vendors to provide exceptional service and quality
  • Upsell services and food to maximize revenue opportunities
  • Generate Banquet Event Orders, Group Resumes, and business correspondence
  • Utilize Delphi system for accurate event blocking and BEOS generation
  • Check Delphi Daily and Weekly reports for event updates and insights
  • Obtain necessary approvals, permits, and insurance certificates for events
  • Chair pre-conference and post-conference meetings to ensure smooth event execution
  • Attend daily departmental and BEO meetings to stay informed and aligned
  • Communicate group information and changes to hotel colleagues in a timely and accurate manner
  • Entertain clients as appropriate, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor
  • Audit banquet checks for assigned groups to ensure accuracy and attention to detail
  • Contract business with approved vendors, approve payment, and provide backup as needed
  • Coordinate all aspects of events, including room type allocation, rooming lists, amenities, and function room setup
  • Manage group transportation, check-in, check-out, and special meal requests
  • Ensure seamless execution of events, exceeding guest expectations and aligning with our Legendary Quality Experiences
Requirements
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in catering and conference services management or event management
  • Luxury hotel experience, preferably in the City of Milan, is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Fluency in English and Italian is required
  • Proficiency in Delphi, MS Office, and hotel-related software is essential
  • Prior experience working with a unionized workforce is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, self-motivation, and ability to work in a safe, prudent, and organized manner are essential
  • Computer software aptitude and hotel operation knowledge are required
  • Knowledge of specific hospitality industry applications, such as Delphi and HMS, is preferred
