To support our expansion into new international markets, we are looking for a highly motivated Business Development Associate to help shape our M&A team and activities in Italy. With a clear, executable M&A strategy in place, we are ready to enter Italy with a dedicated team and accelerate our growth.

As a Business Development Associate, you will play a crucial role in identifying and initiating contact with potential M&A prospects across Finance, Healthcare and Education in Italy. You'll be one of the first points of contact, representing Topicus and learning extensively about the local software market and entrepreneurial landscape.

The Job

· Actively identify and source potential acquisition targets through systematic research, networking, and attending industry events.

· Initiate and lead outreach efforts to establish contact and build relationships with owners, founders, and C-level executives of target companies.

· Conduct in-depth qualification discussions to assess strategic fit and gather initial information.

· Leverage the strong relationship with owners and sellers to guide them through the M&A processes.

· Document interactions, research findings, and lead statuses accurately in our CRM.

· Collaborate with the international M&A and Business Development teams to share insights and best practices.

Your Profile

· Independent, proactive, and results-oriented individual, who functions well within a tight-knit team.

· Strong commercial affinity and comfortable initiating contact with senior executives and entrepreneurs.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – ability to listen, ask insightful questions, and build rapport.

· Good analytical skills with a foundational understanding of financial performance, valuation, and business metrics.

· Organized, methodological, and detail-oriented in approach and documentation.

· Eager to learn (more) about M&A and different industries within the Italian market.

· Experienced in conducting (online) research and gathering key insights on potential prospects and target markets..

· Professional demeanor and representative of the Topicus values (we dare, share, care and deliver).

Requirements

· Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably (but not mandatory) in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Sales, or a related field.

· 2-5 years of relevant experience in a business development, sales, research, or related commercial role. Experience in software/IT or M&A/consulting is a plus.

· Fluent in Italian (native) and English (fluent), both written and spoken.

· Based in Italy and willing to travel within Italy and to the Netherlands occasionally.

· Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and standard office software.
