Scope:
The Business Development Manager (BDM) will play a key role in driving revenue growth and expanding MES International's market presence across all service lines, with a particular focus on developing opportunities within the Asset Integrity sector.
While the role will prioritise identifying and developing new business in Asset Integrity, the successful candidate will also be responsible for promoting MES's full portfolio of consultancy services, including technical safety, HSE risk management, and operational assurance, to existing and new clients across the UK and Europe.
The ideal candidate will have experience delivering Asset Integrity or broader Engineering Consultancy solutions to clients across the UK and Europe. Experience within offshore asset integrity would be an advantage, but is not essential. Candidates located in mainland UK (preferred) or within Europe will also be considered.
Summary:
The BDM will identify new business opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and support sales efforts across all MES services, with an emphasis on Asset Integrity-related growth. They will work collaboratively with technical and operations teams to ensure MES's complete range of solutions is represented effectively in client engagements and proposals.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Market Development & Research
Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the Asset Integrity market, including energy, oil & gas, and process industries.
- Conduct market research to analyse trends, competitor activities, and client needs in the UK and Europe.
Develop insights into emerging opportunities related to integrity management, inspection, and reliability engineering.
Client Acquisition & Relationship Management
Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers within target client organisations.
- Develop tailored proposals and presentations to address specific client needs.
- Maintain regular communication with clients to ensure satisfaction, encourage repeat business, and identify upselling or cross-selling opportunities.
Represent MES at industry events, conferences, and exhibitions.
Business Strategy & Coordination
Work closely with the UK Operations Manager, Group BD Director, and Service Line Leads to align business development strategies with company goals.
- Coordinate with internal teams (technical and commercial) to ensure proposals and solutions are feasible and competitive.
Support the preparation of sales forecasts, performance metrics, and market growth reports.
Sales & Negotiation
Lead client engagement from initial contact to contract close.
- Negotiate commercial terms, ensuring profitable and sustainable agreements.
- Support tender preparation and bid management for Asset Integrity and related projects.
Monitor sales performance and adjust strategies to meet or exceed targets.
Marketing & Brand Presence
Contribute to marketing initiatives and campaigns targeting the Asset Integrity and broader MES service lines.
- Support digital outreach and thought leadership activities (case studies, webinars, industry insights).
- Collaborate with internal marketing teams to strengthen MES's market visibility and credibility.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related technical/commercial field.
- 2–5 years' experience in business development or technical sales within engineering consultancy or asset integrity services.
- Proven experience delivering or promoting Asset Integrity or Engineering Consultancy services to clients in the UK and/or Europe.
- Experience within offshore asset integrity will be considered a strong advantage but not a requirement.
- Strong understanding of the energy, oil & gas, or process industry markets.
