BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
In recent years, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has faced an extraordinary surge in emergencies while continuing its regular operations. This heightened demand challenges the organization, necessitating innovative approaches and methods to ensure that every available resource is directed towards those we serve.
The Change Management and Business Innovation Unit (BIU) was established to facilitate change and foster innovation as part of WFP's Innovation and Knowledge Management division:
BIU serves as the advisory arm of WFP BIU comprises professionals with elite management consulting backgrounds (e.g., Bain, BCG, McKinsey) alongside UN experienceWe implement projects on behalf of Executive Directors, Assistant Secretary Generals, and Directors throughout the UN system, establishing ourselves as a trusted advisor to WFP and other entities (e.g., UN Women, UNFPA, Business Innovation Group). Our emphasis is on comprehensive solutions, including problem assessment, data analysis, operational model design, change planning, and implementation oversight.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Depending on the timing of joining, the candidate's specific experience, and current corporate priorities, the candidate will be accountable for the complete delivery of a project work stream or a smaller project. Examples of specific deliverables include:
Corporate Executive Director, Board and divisional key initiatives Support Division Managers in prioritizing key corporate initiatives, facilitate discussions with team members and other divisions to align on objectives, activities, timelines, and outputs, provide analytical and project management support, and act as an advisor to the Director sponsoring the initiative and driving implementation. UN Reform: Guide UN Reform implementation within WFP and as part of an inter-agency project team Assist UNDCO in data collection (e.g., producing/updating data collection templates, preparing and leading training sessions for all participating UN entities, supporting data missions in countries, etc.); Propose and conduct analysis and visualizations to drive insights and enable the CBO Project Team to make data-driven decisions; Support UNDCO in analyzing service delivery effectiveness and efficiency, identifying areas for optimization and improvement, and reviewing current service approaches at global and country levels; Aid communication efforts regarding UN Reform. Additional divisional needs Assist in knowledge management reviews and best practices sharing, guide and mentor junior staff, acting as a point of reference and supporting them with complex analysis and queries, and provide additional project support based on the pipeline and new projects contracted during the contract period, as necessary.QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
Preference for a degree in business, economics, or engineering.
Experience:
Approximately 4-5 years of professional experience in management consulting, change management, investment banking, or private equity. Experience in an international organization is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills:
Proven capability to develop new strategies and innovative projects. Strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative: ability to perform advanced analysis in Excel and produce high-quality written materials, including PowerPoint presentations and text documents. Experience with optimization processes (e.g., strategic planning, sourcing, logistics, finance processes, performance management, etc.). Collaborative spirit to engage with a diverse range of individuals at all levels and across different cultures, demonstrating credibility and diplomacy. Time management skills with the ability to plan ahead, anticipate requirements, problems, and obstacles, effectively juggling competing priorities and working under tight deadlines. Self-motivated and capable of working autonomously while coordinating a team. Fully committed and motivated to achieve the objectives of the UN World Food Programme.Languages:
In addition to a high proficiency in written and spoken English, knowledge of a second UN language is advantageous.
