Job Summary:

Burberry is seeking a highly skilled Shoes Raw Materials Development Manager to join our team. As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for managing the development and supply of raw materials for our shoes, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with our design team to develop and source raw materials that meet our design brief and collection guidelines.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate costs for materials.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of vendor capability and availability to meet demands.
  • Research and develop new raw material concepts and technologies according to brief.
  • Collaborate with our product development and design teams to build and manage the raw material development critical path.
  • Ensure deadlines are adhered to and follow up on all development issues to resolve and drive to completion.
  • Identify, call out, and make recommendations to mitigate any risks or challenges identified at all stages.
  • Responsible for ordering and delivering raw materials on time, to the quality standard, and within cost price range, to achieve target margin.
  • Ensure functionality (including consistency and standardization) and ensure products that are developed are fit for purpose for the customer, brand, and business.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work in partnership with designers and technicians, understanding and interpreting their creative aesthetic and design vision.
  • Technical capability and product knowledge with ability to confidently influence the design team and provide on-the-spot solutions.
  • Understanding of testing parameters, quality requirements, and fundamentals of chemicals used in finishing.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, delivering clear briefs, and leveraging relationships to meet demands.
  • Critical path management ensuring collections are delivered on time, identifying, calling out, and making recommendations to mitigate any risks or challenges identified.
  • Able to manage within a budget with commercial awareness and understanding of product cost, achieving a balance between creativity and commercial implications throughout the product development process.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to negotiate with credibility, share information effectively, and work confidently with cross-functional teams.
