The Field Service Engineer plays a crucial role in delivering expert technical support for the installation, commissioning, basic customer training, maintenance, troubleshooting, and customer assistance related to our products.

The primary goal is to be an integral member of the Customer Service team, providing effective and focused solution support to ensure maximum customer satisfaction while upholding the professional image of the company.

Responsibilities will encompass microbiology and diagnostic products manufactured or represented by Bruker. Specialization in specific products, technologies, or ranges may be an additional responsibility, utilizing acquired skills and experience. Maintaining accurate records and timely documentation submission is essential.

Duties will primarily be conducted in Italy, particularly in Northern Italy, with expectations for significant travel to provide field service support at customer locations both domestically and internationally.

The position reports to the Region Service Manager, who will establish expectations, offer guidance, and provide necessary support. Daily priorities will be set by the Service Manager and helpdesk team.

This role is home office based, preferably located in a region with good travel connections for both domestic and international travel.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of the Service Team, involved in the installation, maintenance, and support of our instrumentation range, your duties will include:

  • Gaining familiarity with specific instrumentation prior to installation through documentation and/or participation in factory testing.
  • Collaborating with customers and colleagues during the site planning process before installation.
  • Inspecting, installing, setting up, testing, and ensuring systems and accessories meet specifications at customer sites, along with delivering basic operator training.
  • Performing breakdown and planned maintenance at customer locations.
  • Providing technical, software, and application support to customers and colleagues, either directly or through remote diagnosis.
  • Executing procedures necessary to validate systems to certifiable standards.
  • Offering technical input to the sales team for non-routine sales cases.
  • Frequent travel within Italy is essential, with significant travel to customer sites abroad, particularly within Europe.

Educational Background

  • A degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biotechnology, Bio-Chemistry, or equivalent practical experience in the Mass Spectrometry field.
  • A solid technical or scientific foundation gained through industry or academic experience.
  • A valid driving license recognized in Italy.
  • No visa restrictions preventing travel within the USA or EU.

Skills and Experience

  • Ability to take full responsibility for the installation and commissioning of sophisticated instrumentation and instruct users in its basic operation.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing malfunctions and actively resolving customer service issues.
  • Strong computer literacy, including familiarity with data system hardware and industry-standard operating systems.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels, with proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • 1 to 2 years of relevant experience.
