Job Description:

The Manager In Training will assist the General Manager in ensuring the members receive the highest quality of service and facilities. He or she will exhibit an ability to achieve the financial targets for the club as outlined in the annual budget by motivating, leading, supervising and coordinating the activities of employees engaged in servicing our member needs. He/She will demonstrate an aptitude and command of all company wide policies and initiatives to ensure the integrity of the Crunch brand.

Responsibilities:
  • Administration/Organization:
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures and policies that pertain to the club.
  • Communicate and enforce club policies and procedures to employees.
  • Encourage staff to work collaboratively and be productive.
  • Make informed decisions to drive business results.
  • Recruit and hire high-caliber staff.
  • Lead, motivate, and manage team members.
  • Achieve desired revenue goals through effective leadership and motivation.
  • Implement and support company programs and promotions to generate new sales leads.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of leads and sales.
  • Communicate promotions effectively to the team and other staff.
  • Generate new prospective members through ongoing prospecting.
  • Review sales-related written communication for effectiveness, accuracy, and distribution.
  • Ensure staff has a high level of knowledge about club programs, facilities, and equipment.
  • Emphasize the importance of staff involvement in the community and neighborhood.
  • Personal Training/Revenue Management:
  • Lead, motivate, and manage the personal training department.
  • Achieve desired personal training revenue and session production goals.
  • Achieve desired revenue and production results through effective leadership and motivation.
  • Implement and support company programs and promotions to generate new personal training clients.
  • Facilitate integration of personal training products into point-of-sale presentations to maximize orientation sessions and package sales.
  • Ensure personal training team follows proper procedures in session redemption.
  • Oversee PT manager to ensure departmental objectives are met.
  • Operations:
  • Coordinate and work within club support functions of Fitness, Sales, and Marketing, Accounting, and Information Technology.
  • Support personnel-related problems or difficulties by following club procedure and documentation.
  • Resolve member complaints in an expeditious and tactful manner following club procedure and documentation.
  • Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere that enhances the quality of service and care offered to members.
  • Ensure the club meets standards for cleanliness, maintenance, safety, and security.
  • Conduct weekly detailed inspections of the club with the Maintenance Manager using a cleaning checklist and forward information to appropriate staff.
  • Ensure visible maintenance items are repaired promptly, proper signage is posted, and out-of-service equipment is removed from the floor.
  • Reinforce to staff that cleanliness is everyone's responsibility, not just the maintenance staff.
  • Ensure proper inventory of maintenance parts.
  • Track completion of opening/closing checklists, stage management, repair and maintenance log, locker log, and cleaning checklist.
  • Assist in the processing and submission of payroll.
  • Exhibit an understanding of budgets and income statements.
  • Establish controls of expenses and purchasing of club supplies.
  • Display an ability to keep expenses at or below budget.
  • Demonstrate an ability to articulate variances in revenue/sales/expenses versus budget.
  • Leadership/Motivation:
  • Serve as a role model for employees.
  • Communicate effectively by holding weekly and individual meetings with all key club personnel.
  • Provide an inspirational environment that welcomes honest feedback from employees and takes action to ensure a quality working environment.
  • Profit Centers:
  • Drive profit center revenue such as personal training, retail, etc.
  • Monitor flagged check-ins to increase revenue and collections.
  • Demonstrate an ability to increase revenue per member.
  • Meetings:
  • Monthly or Weekly Department Meetings
  • Employee Training Meetings
  • Accountabilities:
  • Implement and support company programs and promotions to generate new sales leads.
  • Oversee expense goals by managing payroll and general and administrative expenses.
  • Ensure the clubs meet Crunch standards for cleanliness, maintenance, safety, security, and physical plant operations.
  • Stay current in knowledge of key competitors.
  • Conduct frequent walk-throughs.
  • Measurement Standards:
  • Successful management of all financial budgetary goals.
  • Ensure standards of clubs cleanliness and customer service excellence.
  • Demonstrate professionalism by leading by example.
  • Timely completion of assigned tasks and projects.
  • Follow all policies and procedures.
