Ophthalmology Business Development Specialist

About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Ophthalmology Business Development Specialist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to our mission of improving people's lives through innovative ophthalmic products and services.
Job DescriptionThe ideal candidate will have at least five years' experience in industry sales, preferably in ophthalmology or a related field. They will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, building relationships with key opinion leaders, and driving the adoption of our MicroShunt product among glaucoma surgeons.
Key responsibilities include:
- Identifying and building new accounts in surgical glaucoma
- Conducting and supporting local training on glaucoma drainage surgery
- Developing sustainable relationships with key opinion leaders across their territory
- Closely collaborating with Santen's Pricing Market-Access Team to maximize the MicroShunt potential in their territory and across EMEA
The successful candidate will have strong technical/clinical skills, commercial acumen, and excellent communication and negotiation skills. They will also be able to maneuver in complex hospital environments and thrive in a fast-paced working environment.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree in health or business-related subject or equivalent qualification (essential)
- Scientific and/or medical degree such as optometrist, or other directly related specialties (desirable)
- At least five years' previous industry sales experience, preferably in ophthalmology or a related field
You will be based in Rome (preferable) or Naples, Italy, and will have the opportunity to work closely with our cross-functional teams to drive business growth and improve patient outcomes.
What We OfferWe offer a competitive salary of €80,000 - €100,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits including a comprehensive health insurance plan, pension scheme, and generous annual leave entitlement.
