ETF Business Responsibilities

Since the launch of our first ETFs in Europe in 2017, Franklin Templeton has focused on utilizing our expertise to introduce various strategies that disrupt the market, particularly in Emerging Markets and Active Fixed Income. This role is pivotal in Milan, concentrating on enhancing existing relationships and establishing new ones to promote our ETF offerings while identifying dedicated ETF buyers and engaging clients directly. It encompasses both operational and strategic elements.

The Senior ETF Sales role for Italy will collaborate closely with the local Mutual Fund Sales Team and the Head of Italy, reporting directly to the Head of ETF Distribution EMEA, and will involve overseeing a small team.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior ETF Sales - Italy

  • Act as the representative of our ETF business in Italy, based in the Milan office.
  • Develop and implement the ETF sales strategy for Italy, including marketing initiatives in conjunction with local marketing teams.
  • Cultivate and enhance client relationships from an ETF perspective, taking into account existing connections and discussions. Redefine target segments and prospects as necessary, collaborating closely with the local Sales Team.
  • Organize and participate in meetings with prospects, managing all aspects of the opportunity and qualification process.
  • Engage in prospecting: initiating and nurturing relationships with prospects and relevant intermediaries across various levels.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy regarding prospect information and sales activities within the CRM system.
  • Foster strong relationships with the Generalist Sales Team and the Head of Italy, ensuring seamless communication regarding all aspects of our ETF business.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, staying informed about the regulatory landscape and anticipating changes to adapt our business accordingly.
  • Facilitate open communication channels among various teams: products, sales, marketing, and capital markets across different regions.
  • Promote awareness of our ETF initiatives internally by training existing teams and externally by enhancing our profile with clients, media, and at industry events.
  • Contribute to the product launch pipeline and assist in defining the ETFs to be launched throughout the year.
  • Manage the existing ETF team, ensuring their developmental needs are met and that they grow within their roles.
  • Engage with the media.

Qualifications and Skills for Success

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Over 8 years of professional experience in the ETF sector is preferred; candidates from other areas will be considered if they possess strong client relationships in Italy with Private Banks, Asset Managers, Family Offices, or Institutional clients.
  • CFA or equivalent qualification is desirable.
  • In-depth understanding of the Italian market and trends, particularly in segments such as Discretionary Managers, Family Offices, and Asset Managers.
  • Proven consultative selling skills and the ability to collaborate with existing Sales Teams.
  • Strong knowledge of the investment industry and investment management techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Italian and English.
  • Management experience is a plus but not essential.
  • A proactive approach to networking and leveraging market opportunities.
  • Ability to navigate complex organizations at multiple levels and build internal networks.
  • Results-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Strong team player with the initiative to work independently.

Travel will be necessary to engage with various investors and attend internal seminars in different countries.
